Hoodia Gordonii Side Effects

Hoodia Gordonii is highly advertised of having no side effects, but in truth, there are no known side effects. Statements have been made that Hoodia has been used for hundreds of years, but the actual Hoodia Gordonii pill is new to northern America and little studies have proven that it does or does not have side effects. The pill has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and it said to have a ways to go before it does become approved. Until that happens, dieters are cautioned to be cautious of using Hoodia Gordonii.

What is known about the Hoodia diet pill is that it has an affect on the function of your liver. It does react with other forms of medications, so it is advised that you not use other medications while on Hoodia or don’t use Hoodia period if you are on medications you can’t live without. People from thousands of years ago, using Hoodia, likely weren’t taking any pills for cholesterol, blood pressure, depression, diabetes, and other illnesses.

If you have diabetes and are looking for a solution to weight loss, you should be careful about consuming Hoodia Gordonii as a means to do so. It is said the Hoodia works by tricking your brain into believing that your body has enough glucose (or blood sugar). This can have an adverse effect for diabetics since they rely on their body to tell them when to take insulin. During this time, the diabetic’s blood glucose could drop drastically low. The regular mechanism for hunger within your body will too be turned off, so the warning signs might not be given until it is too late.

Pregnant women too should be wary of using Hoodia Gordonii. For starters, pregnant women should always consult with their physician before trying to lose weight while pregnant. During the pregnancy, it is natural and necessary to gain weight to help support the baby. If you were already over-weight and need to slim down to rid risks of hurting the baby, it is best to use natural ways of losing weight, such as eating healthier and doing light work outs. This precaution also goes out to women who are nursing their young. The Hoodia can be transferred to the breast milk, which could then cause your infant to not eat, due to the effects of Hoodia Gordonii.

Children are also advised not to take Hoodia, along with people who have liver problems or kidney disease. Hoodia is known to suppress hunger, but it is also a suppressant for thirst. There were unconfirmed reports of African shepherds who took Hoodia to help curve their hunger pains and while doing so, they were suppressed of thirst warnings and ended up dying from dehydration. Without the urge to drink, they were unable to know when they needed to stop for water.

It is important that you follow the directions of Hoodia Gordonii while taking it and you should make sure to keep track of when you eat and drink. To stop either completely is not advised and could end up hurting you.
